Donna Wissinger and ARTZ OUT LOUD delight in creating  lasting memories of some of music’s greatest composers and their masterpieces.

Beginning with the Pied Piper’s musical power to rid a town of rats and his decision to lead children into the world of musical masterpieces in the in-school program, students are ready and eager to hear Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture, excerpts from Debussy’s Prelude to an Afternoon of a Faun, and Beethoven’s great 5th symphony played by a full symphony orchestra.

  • Students gravitate toward great stories; stories full of compassion and mystery.
  • Students meet Mozart, the genius who struggled mightily with money but who understood the journey of a hero and composed music full of human heart.  The story of the Magic Flute is one of perseverance and triumph.
  • Students delight in the mysterious story of a satyr named Pan and a fairy from an ancient and beautiful land called Greece.
  • Students learn from a man, a musician and composer most know by name, who lost his gift of hearing yet never gave up.

The in-school program deftly prepares students to listen to the music with confidence and to feel the power of the symphony orchestra experience.

  • Note: In some cases there are opportunities for students in recorder classes to perform Beethoven’s Ode to Joy as part of the symphony program! This is a fabulous experience for students.
